Get crafty and creative

Let your kids’ imagination run wild with a play den where they can escape to and play games in. Why not get creative and help them to construct their very own den? Use thin planks of wood and fabric to create a tepee tent. Or use items around the house - put a spare sheet on top of a couple of drying racks for a makeshift den. Decorate the inside of the tent with string lights, like our Copper Wire Lights – set to be a big seller this year! We also love these Snowflake Clip String Lights - ideal for clipping photos or keepsakes on.

Use string lights to make attractive designs on the wall, like our Christmas tree and house design made with multi-coloured string lights (pictured) using suction clips, or similarly, attach baubles to the wall to create a tree or star design.

Why not set aside an afternoon to get crafty with your kids? Use glue and glitter to create a selection of unique baubles. Read our article, 8 Christmas craft ideas for some creative inspiration.

Use colourful decorations

Designed with children in mind, our Merry & Bright collection is all about bold, bright and cheerful decorations. You can transform your kid’s bedroom into a magical wonderland with eye-catching baubles, like our Pink Fairy Decoration and Elf Tree Topper these are the ideal size for a small tree that will fit perfectly in your child’s bedroom.

We stock a selection of brightly coloured 3ft Christmas trees, the 4ft Orelle Tree Pink (pictured) is great for instantly adding colour. Adorn the tree with hanging decorations, like this Reindeer Felt Decoration, or the Grey Penguin Decoration from our Scandi Christmas collection. Use our gorgeous Multicolour LED String Lights to dress the tree, and finish the tree off with our Santa Tree Topper. Putting up a small tree in your children’s bedroom means that they can decorate it themselves. It also makes a nice alternative to a stocking - place little presents under the tree to surprise your kids when they wake up on Christmas Day morning.

Other ways to add some Christmas cheer to their room is to use indoor light silhouettes and string lights, such as the Multicolour Wooden Star (pictured). This multicolour star also acts as a nightlight for particularly young children who may have a fear of the dark.

Funky stockings and gift wrapping

Use attractive paper, bows and ribbons to make the presents you give your children look extra appealing. This year we’ll be offering a selection of wrapping paper in different designs. Our Christmas character wrapping paper features cartoon penguins and polar bears skiing. For older children, our Fluffy penguin wrapping paper is a lovely choice showing adorable fluffy penguins and holly against a white background.

Another nice touch that kids will love is to put presents into a gift sack. Not only does this make Christmas morning more exciting, but it also stops presents from getting muddled up. We have a traditional Snowflake Hessian Sack, and a Red Felt Character Sack. Using a gift sack for kids makes the whole experience even more magical!

Don’t forget stockings! They can be hung on the mantelpiece or on your child’s bedroom door. A stocking is a good option if you prefer to open big presents after the Christmas meal or later in the day. This way children are kept entertained with some little toys or gadgets, and it’ll stop them from asking to open the presents under the tree all day.

Soft toys and musical animations

Bring the bedroom to life with furry toy animals and characters that can sing, dance and move around! This year we are bringing back our firm favourites, including the Unicorn Animation, Singing Fairy Animation, Musical Bear, the Walking & Singing Dog and the adorable little Singing Reindeer, as well as many more! These friendly faces can make a nice addition to the bed along with cushions and funky bedding. Or, they can sit on the floor in a toy corner or on top of a bedside table or chest of drawers.
