Heat guns speed up the drying of surfaces and shaping plastics, films and vinyl. Also know as hot air guns, they can also be used to soften old paint and varnish so that it can be stripped without the use of chemicals. The gun heats a stream of air being blown from the gun by a fan. Variable heat settings and different-shaped concentrator nozzles then help to adapt the tool to suit the task in hand by adjusting the temperature as well as the direction of air flow.
