- Surface Preparation - Prepare the surfaces and choose the right tools. If necessary, move or cover your furniture. Make sure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from dirt, grease and grime. Prepare any powdery, flaky or unstable surfaces by removing all loose material and prime with a suitable sealer. Don’t forget tokeep the room well ventilated, this helps reduce drying times. Painting your ceiling, then the walls and woodwork is the best order. Make sure you wear a suitable mask to protect yourself from inhaling dust when dry sanding.
