Dahlias are a classic summer bedding plant, with very pretty flowers which can be cut and enjoyed indoors.

• Best for middle of borders, or containers. in Sunny areas
• Moist & well drained Aerated soil
• Watering instructions - Keep compost moist during germination period and thereafter. Water well during dry spells.
• Plant in February - April, Flowering period June - October
• Sow indoors in seed trays 0.5cm deep using sowing compost. Place on a warm windowsill or in a greenhouse. Keep moist. Transfer seedlings to 7.5cm pots. Seedlings will usually appear after 10-20 days. Acclimatise to outdoor conditions and plant out 60cm apart in a sunny position after risk of frost is over.
• Remove any deadheads on the plant to encourage more flowers to bloom. Stake to protect tall plants from wind damage.
