What are pencil pleat curtains?

Pencil pleat curtains are characterised by their tightly gathered pleats, resembling a row of pencil markings. They’re an extremely popular style of window dressing that offers a timeless look, making them ideal for many home interiors. The pleats are created by pulling cords located on the heading tape that runs across the top of the curtains, allowing for adjustable fullness and a neat and uniformed appearance when the curtains are drawn closed.

What are eyelet curtains?

Eyelet curtains, also known as grommet curtains, are a style of window treatment characterized by metal rings or eyelets inserted into the fabric at the top of the curtains. These eyelets are evenly spaced and allow the curtain rod to pass through them, creating a clean and contemporary look. Eyelet curtains are easy to install and operate, as the curtains glide smoothly along the curtain rod. They offer a modern and minimalistic aesthetic, suitable for a wide range of interior styles. Additionally, they allow for easy adjustment and provide a sleek and uncluttered appearance when hung.

What are thermal curtains?

Thermal curtains, also known as thermal insulated curtains, are specially designed to provide enhanced insulation and temperature control in a room. They're made with a thick, tightly woven fabric that has thermal properties, while helping to block out sunlight, reduce drafts, and prevent heat loss during cold weather. Additionally, thermal curtains can help to block out external noise and provide privacy, making them a popular choice for bedrooms, living rooms, and any space where comfort and privacy are desired. They offer a practical and stylish solution for maintaining a comfortable indoor environment.

What are blackout curtains?

Blackout curtains are designed to block out light and create darkness in a room. They're made from heavy, opaque fabrics that prevent light from passing through. The dense fabric and special lining of blackout curtains effectively block sunlight, which makes them ideal for bedrooms, nurseries, or spaces where darkness is desired for better sleep. In addition to light-blocking capabilities, blackout curtains can also offer benefits such as noise reduction, thermal insulation, and privacy; check out our blackout & thermal curtains for an all in one solution.  They provide a practical solution for controlling light levels and creating a cosy, private atmosphere in any room.

Where should curtains fall?

The ideal placement for curtains largely depends on personal preference and the specific needs of the space. Here are a few general guidelines on where curtains should fall:

Floor length: For a classic and elegant look, curtains should generally fall all the way to the floor. This provides a clean and polished appearance, elongating the windows and creating a sense of height.
Slightly above floor: Alternatively, some prefer curtains that hang slightly above the floor. This can be a practical choice if you need to open and close the curtains frequently or if you have pets or children that might tug on the fabric.
Just touching the floor: Another option is to have curtains that lightly graze the floor. This creates a soft and romantic effect while still maintaining functionality.
Puddled: For a more dramatic and luxurious look, curtains can be intentionally longer, allowing them to pool on the floor. This style works well in formal settings but may require extra maintenance to keep the fabric clean.

Remember to consider the type of curtain rod or track used and allow enough clearance to open and close the curtains with ease. Ultimately, the length of the curtains should complement the overall style and purpose of the room.
