When carrying out DIY home improvements you or a family member may be cut, burned or suffer other injuries. If you have the basic first aid kit you will be better prepared to help your loved ones when if they are hurt.
Knowing how to treat minor injuries can make a difference in an emergency. You may also consider taking a first aid class, but simply having the following things can help you stop bleeding, prevent infection and assist in decontamination.
Include the following in your first-aid kits:
first-aid manual
sterile gauze
adhesive tape
adhesive bandages in several sizes
elastic bandage
antiseptic wipes
soap
antibiotic cream
antiseptic solution (hydrogen peroxide)
sharp scissors
safety pins
disposable instant cold packs
calamine lotion
alcohol wipes or ethyl alcohol
plastic gloves (at least 2 pairs)
flashlight and extra batteries
mouthpiece for administering CPR
