Insulating Waterpipes In Attic |
All water pipes in the attic (including overflows) should be insulated. The only exceptions are those pipes that are within or under the attic insulation or within the tank casing.
If you are using rolls of mineral (glass or rock) wool mat, wrap it 'bandage fashion, securing it with wire, tape or string.
Don't leave any gaps, and wrap up the bodies of taps and joints as well.
You can also use pre-formed moulded insulation which is easier to fit on straight pipe runs, but more difficult around fittings and bends, where it should be taped up.
