Guide for Painting Ceramic Tiles |
Ceramic tiles in general can be painted to give them a new lease of
life. The painted tiles will never be as durable as the original
glazed finish. As long the newly painted tiles are not subject to
constant water deluge they will serve you well.
Step 1
Thorough preparation is required for this type of project. First do a
visual check of the tiled surface, make sure all broken tiles are
repaired and that there are no gaps in the grout.
Step 2
Clean the tiled area to be painted using a mild detergent then rinse
off with water. Allow tiled area to dry completely before proceedings.
Step 3
Now using an abrasive type paper rub over the entire tiled surface.
This course of action will provide a base for the paint to take too.
When you have completed sanding, using a damp sponge or soft cloth
clean and remove all dust from the surface area. Again allow the
surface to completely dry before proceedings.
Step 4
Using a paint primer apply to the sanded area and allow same time to
dry. This is now a solid base to apply your finished coats of paint
too.
