- Instructions for planting - Chit your potatoes before you plant. Chitting allows the seed potato to produce little sprouts before they're planted in the ground. This gives them a great head start. The easiest way to chit seed potatoes is by placing them in a egg carton, positioned in a cool frost free location. Once the little shoots are about 3cm long, they're ready for planting.
- After planting care instructions - Once the shoots appear 15cm above the soil, mound the soil to cover most of each shoot, creating a ridge. Leave about 5cm of the shoot above soil level. Repeat this process every few weeks until the ridge is about 30cm high. Frost can damage young potato plants so use fleece or a cloche to protects from low temperatures.
