Crown imperial fritillaries are one of the most impressive sights in the spring garden. The towering stems are topped with regal crowns of vibrant orange, bell-shaped flowers. Plant them dotted through borders, or in groups for an impressive display
- Planting location: Suitable for beds, borders or containers
- Flowering period: April-May, Planting period: Aug-Dec
- Plant at a depth of 20cm. Best planted in a sunny position. Dig compost and bonemeal into the planting hole before planting. In heavy clay soils add horticultural grit to the bottom of the planting hole. Water well. In the growing season, water plants in containers during dry spells. Requires little attention once established. Leave spent flower heads to seed and allow foliage to die down naturally. Flowering results improve each year.
