| Lawnmower Purchase Guide |
Lawnmowers come in a lot of different variety and sizes, types, and
price ranges that you should do some careful research before you
purchase one. There are a lot of things to consider, such as the type
and size of your lawn, how much you what to spend, just how long the
lawnmower will last, and even your own mechanical abilities every lawn
mower need some type of regular maintenance.
Research
The best way to begin your research is by taking a careful look at
your particular lawn. If you are replacing your old lawnmower, you
probably already have a good idea of what you require. If you have
just purchased a new home, you need to know the exact size of your
particular lawn. This is very important because recommendations for
various mowers are partially based on lawn size. .
Take these three steps before you purchase a new lawnmower:
Step 1
Take a walk around your particular lawn. Is it level or sloping? Does
it have any shady spots that are always wet? Does it have a problem
with surface roots from a tree? Are there any obstacles on the lawn?
Planter boxes, trees, bushes, patios, walls, all obstacles can make
maneuverability a very important factor. Is your lawn level, or is it
on a slope? Since it is usually difficult to push a mower uphill, a
self-propelled lawn mower may be the most prudent choice for a sloping
lawn.
Step 2
Ask yourself the following: Do you really enjoy working in the garden?
If not, you will probably need to hire a professional gardener for a
month or two. If you do enjoy working in the garden, will you also
feel comfortable cleaning the air filter, changing the oil, and
checking spark plugs? A good quality mower will last for many years if
it is maintained properly. A poorly maintained lawnmower will too
often have to be replaced.
Step 3
The next thing to consider is your budget. How much can you
realistically afford to spend? How long will you live in this
particular property? What about if your next property does not have a
garden? Will you still need your mower in two years time?
NOTE:
Now that you have answered these basic questions, you may begin your research.
