| Cleaning Windows? |
Regular cleaning of your windows is just a necessary part of keeping
our home looking shiny and clean.
Sparkling clean windows are a
wonderful way to view the outside world, and should not be neglected.
There are so many reasons for these dirty windows such as: smog, and
just general grime.
Why not consider cleaning your windows monthly, this may be too often
for some, but it will be less work if you do this task monthly. When
you allow grime to build up on your windows regular cleaning will mean
you will not have to work as hard or as often, the key is less work
but more frequent.
Never clean your windows while they are in direct sunlight. Your
cleaning solution will dry too fast. This will cause streaks because
the cleaning solution dries before you can wipe it off. The best time
to clean windows are on a cloudy, but not rainy day. Cool, clean water
is the choice of most professional window cleaners.
If windows are very dirty you can add 2 to 3 tablespoons of vinegar
per gallon of water. Use horizontal strokes on the inside and vertical
on the outside so you know which side of the glass the streaks are on.
When drying your windows, a wad of crumpled newspaper works just as
well as expensive paper towels. Remember to wear rubber gloves to keep
your hands free of print ink.
Using Professional Squeegee
The type of squeegee professional's use is available in most DIY
outlets. Purchase a quality brand squeegee as they will produce the
best results.
Dip a 100% cotton cleaning cloth in your solution. Start by wiping off
any excess grime give final wipe to remove any remaining dirt for the
glass.
Now take your squeegee. Start each squeegee stroke in a dry spot. Wipe
a strip with a cleaning cloth to get started.
Start the squeegee in a pattern from top to bottom, or side to side.
If you clean the outside and the inside, Work top to bottom on the
inside and side to side on the outside. By doing this, you'll be able
to identify which side any streaks are left behind on the glass.
Keep the squeegee blade dry by wiping it with a cleaning cloth after
each stroke.
Replace the blade when necessary. Even the smallest nick can cause streaking.
