Question Cracked Window SillA section of a concrete window sill has fallen off exposing the reinforcing bar and a crack has appeared the full length of the sill what is the best way to repair this. If it cannot be repaired how do I go about replacing it? |
Answer
During their original manufacture, unusually big and small window sills, requiring structural capacity. This was achieved with the aid of reinforced mild steel bars. On occasion, if during the process the reinforcement bar may have been too close to the surface causing the concrete sill to crack later. When this happened the section of reinforced bar would start to rust.
In some cases depending if the damage is minor the crack can be filled with a special filler or concrete mix.
If this damage from the deteriorating reinforcement is extensive, the entire window sill may require replacement.
