The first thing to check before you start any work, is whether or not you need to apply for planning permission.
If you build something which requires planning permission without getting permission first, you may be forced to remove same. Which could prove troublesome and very costly. If you are in any doubt, always make contact with your local planning department or council office.
Alternatively you would need to employ the professional services of a builder, architect or chartered surveyor.Depending on the size and design of your project they can also advise you on all materials required.
