Question: Boxing Pipe-work
The problem is that I have heating pipes running up the wall in my sitting room and would like to cover them in.

Answer

To make a simple boxing around pipe-work first screw two lengths of 2” x 1” of timber to on either side pipes. This is a very simple boxing where the pipes are running up the wall. This could just as easily be a box fixed between the wall and the floor if your pipes are running horizontally.

The principle is the same in both cases. The materials you will use will vary depending on the size of your box but for most applications either ¼ inch plywood or plasterboard is good. Remember as with all carpentry related projects, measure twice only cut once.
