Question: Tiling Repair
I have just purchased a property which has existing quarry tiles on the kitchen floor. The problem is that some of the old tiles are broken and the floor surface is now uneven. What would you suggest I do in this situation?

Answer

I would remove your existing quarry tiles there is little option but to get stuck in with a hammer and bolster chisel. Make sore you wear good gloves and goggles, as splintered quarry tiles can be very sharp indeed.

Another method of removing quarry tiles is to use a Kango hammer using a flat chisel you can hire from your local tool hire centre. If a Kango hammer is to be used do not expect to have a perfectly flat floor when you have finished.
