I my opinion the best method of holding a container of paint while painting off a ladder. Is the use a S shaped type hook. This can be made by bending a strong piece of wire, about 14" to 20" in length, into an S shape. One end can then be hooked onto your ladder and the handle of the paint container hooked at the other end.
